MARCOS RELEASES ₱760-M AID FOR TYPHOON TINO-AFFECTED AREAS

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has released ₱760 million in direct financial assistance to areas heavily affected by Typhoon Tino.

According to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro, the amount was sourced from the Office of the President’s funds and will be distributed among provinces and cities hit by the storm.

Provinces of Cebu, Capiz, Surigao del Norte, Iloilo, Bohol, and Negros Occidental will each receive ₱50 million, while ₱40 million will go to Eastern Samar, Surigao del Sur, Southern Leyte, Antique, and Aklan. Leyte and Masbate will get ₱30 million each, Guimaras, Agusan del Norte, and Dinagat Islands ₱20 million each, and ₱10 million will be allotted to Biliran, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Misamis Oriental, Negros Oriental, and Palawan.

Meanwhile, ₱5 million in aid will be granted to Albay, Romblon, Batangas, Northern Samar, Siquijor, Quezon Province, Samar, Agusan del Sur, Laguna, Zamboanga City, the City of Manila, Camiguin, Occidental Mindoro, Camarines Norte, Zamboanga del Norte, and Iligan City.

Castro clarified that there is currently no call for foreign assistance, noting that the government still has sufficient funds for response and recovery.

“At may mga quick response funds po ang mga frontline agencies na mari-replenish po at kung ito po ay kukulangin lalong-lalo na po sa mga LGUs, makakaasa po sila na sila po ay bibigyan po ng tulong mula sa Office of the President, iyong tinatawag po nating local government support funds,” Castro said.

She added that while countries such as Australia, Canada, and the United States have expressed readiness to assist in recovery efforts, “hindi po tayo nananawagan para sa financial assistance or rather foreign assistance.”
