MARCOS THANKS LGUS, RESPONDERS FOR SWIFT ACTION AMID TYPHOON UWAN

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday praised local governments, first responders, and volunteers for their quick coordination as Super Typhoon Uwan lashed Luzon, saying early evacuations “made all the difference” in saving lives.

“I want to thank our local governments, first responders, and volunteers for acting quickly and working together to keep our people safe,” Marcos said.

“The preemptive evacuations you carried out made all the difference. Napakalaking bagay ng inyong maagap na pagkilos.”

Malacañang credited the coordinated disaster response for minimizing casualties despite Uwan’s strong winds and floods that pounded Aurora, Bicol, and Central Luzon.

Government data showed four deaths and over 160,000 families displaced, with floodwaters starting to recede in Pangasinan and Quezon. The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said two fatalities remained under validation as clearing continued in hard-hit areas.

Marcos earlier directed agencies to stay on full alert, sustain relief operations, and hasten rehabilitation efforts in affected provinces.
