President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. expressed hope that the reforms initiated under his administration would continue beyond his term, urging future leaders not to abandon the systems he has sought to institutionalize.
In the latest episode of the PBBM Podcast aired Thursday, Marcos told student guests from the University of the East, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and West Visayas State University that he wants the structural changes introduced during his presidency to outlast his term ending in 2028.
“Kahit wala na ako rito, sana ‘yung mga pagbabagong nasimulan namin… magtuloy-tuloy na para hindi na matanggal,” he said.
Marcos stressed that national progress depends on electing leaders capable of sustaining long-term reforms. He described his governance approach as a break from traditional political thinking, asserting that old frameworks no longer address modern challenges.
“Stop thinking the same old way. It doesn’t work anymore,” he said, noting that he frequently spends hours with advisers exploring unconventional solutions.
While he avoided direct comparisons with his father, the late Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., he emphasized a guiding lesson from his years in public service: “If you believe in something that you are doing for the country… do not stop… You will have to sacrifice… You will fail… You have to stand up again. Don’t stop.”
This latest podcast episode shifted its focus toward the youth—an audience the administration continues to engage amid corruption probes, political strain, and calls for deeper institutional reforms.
