President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday made a return visit to San Remigio, Cebu, to personally check on families displaced by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck the province last month.
This marks the President’s second trip to Cebu, following his initial visit to Bogo City on October 2, to assess the situation of quake victims.

The “Bayanihan Village”, an inter-agency project, consists of 67 prefabricated modular units that serve as temporary shelters for families whose homes were either destroyed or located near fault lines and sinkhole-prone areas, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII.
Marcos also toured the Family Tents set up by the DSWD, where he met with staff and volunteers from Women and Child-Friendly Spaces. He was joined by DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero during the visit.
The completed units will also function as evacuation centers, managed by the DSWD’s Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) Cluster under its Disaster Response Operations.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that the death toll from the September 30 earthquake in Bogo City has risen to 79, while 559 individuals were injured.
In total, the NDRRMC said around 747,979 people, or 216,947 families, across Central Visayas have been affected by the quake.
