MARCOS VISITS CEBU, LEADS RELIEF OPERATIONS FOR TYPHOON TINO SURVIVORS

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday visited Liloan, Cebu, to personally oversee ongoing relief and recovery efforts for families displaced by Typhoon Tino.

Marcos inspected the situation at Tiltilon Elementary School in Barangay Cotcot, which now serves as an evacuation center housing 125 displaced families. He also led the distribution of family food packs, health kits, hygiene kits, and sleeping kits provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Hot meals were likewise prepared and served to evacuees.

The Department of Health (DOH) in Central Visayas has been conducting rapid health assessments in affected communities and providing free medical consultations and essential medicines, including maintenance drugs, antibiotics, doxycycline for leptospirosis prophylaxis, and anti-tetanus vaccines.

The agency also began routine child vaccinations in evacuation centers to prevent outbreaks and has been assessing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities to ensure the availability of safe drinking water. DOH teams are monitoring the health and nutrition of children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers to prevent further health risks.

After Liloan, the President proceeded to the Talisay Sports Academy in Talisay City, where he distributed additional relief aid and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fast-track recovery in typhoon-hit areas.
