Senator Bam Aquino has been named Esquire Philippines’ “Maverick of the Year,” a recognition of his reform-driven leadership and long-standing public service.
“Here in the Philippines, in the timeline we’re in, an Aquino is never just an Aquino. The name comes with a compass, a burden, a legacy. Sen. Bam Aquino grew up with reminders of that responsibility,” Esquire wrote, underscoring the weight of heritage and the senator’s commitment to it.

The magazine cited Aquino’s impact in policymaking, particularly in education, entrepreneurship, and good governance—areas that have shaped his public life.
The distinction places him among past Man at His Best honorees who exemplify innovation and leadership, including Benjie Magalong (2024), Joy Belmonte (2023), Risa Hontiveros (2022), and Leni Robredo (2021).
As an education advocate and key figure in the opposition, Aquino is increasingly viewed as a potential presidential or vice-presidential contender for the 2028 national elections.
