Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced that electricity rates will increase this February due to higher transmission and universal charges.
In a statement released Tuesday, Meralco said the overall rate adjustment amounts to ₱0.22 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in the upcoming billing cycle.
This translates to an estimated increase of around ₱45 for households consuming 200 kWh per month.
Customers using 300 kWh may see their bills go up by about ₱67, while those consuming 400 kWh and 500 kWh are expected to pay an additional ₱89 and ₱111, respectively.
Meralco said the adjustment reflects changes in charges passed on to distribution utilities, which ultimately affect consumer electricity bills.
