More Filipinos now say their quality of life has worsened compared to those who believe it has improved in the third quarter of 2025, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.
In its newest Social Weather Report, SWS found that 30% of adult Filipinos said their lives were better (gainers) than 12 months ago. Meanwhile, 32% said their lives worsened (losers), and 38% reported no change (unchanged), based on the nationwide survey conducted from September 24–30, 2025.
These results translate to a Net Gainers score of -2 (Gainers minus Losers), a 14-point drop from the high +12 recorded in June 2025. SWS noted that this is the weakest score since September 2023, which also registered -2.
SWS emphasized that the Net Gainers score — a quality-of-life indicator measured 163 times since 1983 — was “generally negative” until 2015. It became positive before the pandemic but sharply declined during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
