NBI URGES PUBLIC NOT TO AID FUGITIVES IN FLOOD CONTROL CASES

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has called on the public to avoid providing any form of assistance to individuals attempting to evade arrest in connection with the controversial flood control projects.

“The Bureau appealed to the public to refrain from assisting or harboring individuals seeking to evade lawful apprehension,” the NBI said in its statement.

The agency further noted: “This directive is consistent with the NBI’s core mandate and underscores the administration’s determination to hold everyone involved in the flood control controversy fully accountable.”

The NBI also issued a stern warning to the remaining suspects still in hiding.

“To all others still at large: the clock isn’t ticking — it’s ringing. Surrender now before the law knocks next,” the agency stated.

Earlier on Monday morning, President Bongbong Marcos confirmed that several individuals linked to the anomalies had already been apprehended, while authorities continue to pursue others with active warrants.

“Pito na po sa mga indibidwal na may warrant of arrest sa Sandiganbayan kaugnay sa [flood control anomalies] ang nasa kustodiya na ng ating mga awtoridad,” he said, noting that six surrendered to the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), while one was arrested by the NBI.
