NDRRMC RAISES HEIGHTENED ALERT STATUS AHEAD OF UNDAS

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has raised its “Heightened Alert Status” in preparation for the upcoming Undas observance.

In a memorandum issued on Tuesday, October 28, the NDRRMC directed all regional and local disaster councils to be on full alert and ready to respond to any emergencies, while ensuring public safety and order.

As part of the initiative, authorities will implement traffic management measures around cemeteries, seaports, and transport terminals. The council also emphasized the need for accurate public information dissemination and safety reminders throughout the holiday period.

The NDRRMC said the move will be carried out in coordination with other government agencies, including the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Transportation (DOTr), and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

In a related report, the PNP announced that over 30,000 police officers are set for nationwide deployment from October 29 to November 3 to maintain peace and order during the observance.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has placed around 2,403 personnel on standby to manage heavy traffic and assist the expected influx of visitors across Metro Manila.
