The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) announced that no hearings will be held next week, according to its Executive Director Brian Keith Hosaka on Thursday.
“Next week, there will be no hearing because Commissioner (Rogelio) Babes Singson will not be available the entire week,” Hosaka stated.
He also read a statement from ICI Chairperson and retired Supreme Court Justice Andres Reyes Jr., explaining that the commission needs to draft its rules of procedure and parameters before it can begin livestreaming its proceedings.
“We hear the clamor of the Filipino people for more transparency, and we are pushing to livestream the hearings as soon as possible,” Reyes said.
“However, before we do so, the ICI would need to study and draft the rules of procedure and parameters to allow for live streaming, taking into consideration sensitive information and the Constitutional rights of invited resource persons,” he added.
Earlier this week, Reyes told the Senate that the ICI intends to livestream its investigative hearings into alleged anomalies in flood control projects and other questionable government infrastructure programs starting next week — but this schedule will now be moved as the commission finalizes its guidelines.
