Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate false social media reports claiming he was hospitalized this January.
“Pinapaimbestigahan ko yan. Why? Oo, pinapaimbestigahan ko ‘yan kasi we’ve reached the limit of cyberlibel already. Kaya tignan natin kung saan pupunta,” Remulla said.
“I am asking the NBI to look into these allegations and scuttlebutt, kung saan nagmula sa social media.”
Remulla suggested the spread of the false news may be part of a “propaganda machine” linked to certain political parties.
“An idle mind is the devil’s workshop. Wala tayong magagawa naghahanap sila ng iistoryahin. I came out of my radio program last Saturday but Sunday, meron na naman, tuloy na naman. Kaya makikita mo iyong bad faith,” he said.
“There’s really an orchestrated campaign. I don’t know for what purpose pero tingin ko, it’s part of the propaganda machine of some political parties,” he added.
The Ombudsman also reassured the public of his health and ability to perform his duties: “I work out everyday. I sleep early, I wake up early.”
