The Office of the Ombudsman has released a statement clarifying the current health condition of Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, confirming that he is now cancer-free and in good health.
In its official statement issued on Monday, October 27, the office assured the public that Remulla remains fully capable and dedicated to performing his duties.
The office explained that Remulla’s recent comments about his health were spoken in the past tense, referring to experiences prior to his appointment as Ombudsman.
Reports surfaced on Sunday, October 26, claiming that Remulla had battled a heart condition and later developed leukemia. The Ombudsman himself earlier shared that in 2023, doctors discovered a heart ailment that required him to undergo open-heart bypass surgery.
Following a successful operation, Remulla was later diagnosed with leukemia. He underwent treatment at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Bonifacio Global City, which included two cycles of chemotherapy, total body irradiation, and a bone marrow transplant.
The Office of the Ombudsman assured the public that Remulla is now in excellent condition and remains steadfast in carrying out his duties, particularly in pursuing accountability in the alleged irregularities involving flood control projects.
