Ombudsman Boying Remulla confirmed that contractor couple Curlee and Sarah Discaya may soon be charged in connection with alleged anomalies in government flood control projects implemented through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The statement came after the Office of the Ombudsman filed malversation and two counts of graft charges against former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co, several DPWH Southern Tagalog District officials, and directors of Sunwest Corporation.
These charges stem from the allegedly substandard ₱289.5-million flood control project in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
The case against Co surfaced shortly after he released video statements accusing President Bongbong Marcos and former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez of being involved in the alleged ₱100-billion insertions in the 2025 national budget.
According to Remulla, “the three cases against the Discaya couple have reportedly already been submitted for final resolution,” which are part of the nine Discaya-related cases currently being investigated.
He added that the first batch of cases could be filed as early as next week, depending on how quickly the Ombudsman finalizes its findings.
The Ombudsman also noted that the Sandiganbayan may issue arrest orders once it determines probable cause for the graft and malversation of public funds through falsification of public documents against those already charged.
These developments form part of a broader investigation into alleged anomalies in government-funded flood control projects across several provinces.
So far, the camp of Curlee and Sarah Discaya has not issued any reaction or statement.
