The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) has deployed an additional 110 security screeners at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in anticipation of the heavy influx of travelers for the upcoming Undas (All Saints’ Day) break.
According to OTS Acting Administrator Jose Briones Jr., there are now 1,203 OTS personnel assigned across all NAIA terminals and 1,232 personnel deployed in other airports nationwide.
Briones said the OTS has implemented round-the-clock security monitoring to ensure passenger safety and smooth airport operations during the holiday rush.
“We also do regular preventive maintenance of all security screening equipment to avoid breakdowns, particularly in anticipation of increased passenger volume,” Briones noted.
Security auditors have also been deployed to ensure that airport operators are properly implementing security measures in compliance with national and international standards.
The OTS also issued travel reminders and a list of do’s and don’ts for passengers:
- Limit baggage to essential items for faster checkpoint screening.
- Pack sharp objects in checked luggage.
- Firearms and ammunition must be accompanied by proper licenses and permits.
- Liquids, aerosols, and gels in carry-on bags must be in containers of 100 ml or less; items exceeding this limit must be checked in.
Briones reminded travelers to check the OTS official website for the updated list of prohibited items before heading to the airport.
