The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Saturday that more than one million Filipinos have benefited from the Zero Balance Billing program.
The agency reported that 1,078,164 patients have been served since July, four months after President Bongbong Marcos’ fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA).
According to the DOH, Secretary Ted Herbosa strictly enforced the full implementation of Zero Balance Billing across more than 80 DOH hospitals and ensured faster processing of patient charges.
Some hospitals have already adopted paperless billing, with receipts showing zero payment delivered directly to patients’ bedsides.
The program covers costly and complex medical procedures worth millions, along with doctors’ professional fees and essential medicines required by patients.
