More than 61,000 sea travelers passed through seaports nationwide on the morning of Christmas Day, December 25, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
PCG monitoring from 6 a.m. to noon showed 35,533 outbound passengers and 26,130 inbound passengers across ports nationwide. To ensure safety and order, personnel from 16 PCG districts inspected 297 vessels and 621 motorbancas for compliance with maritime safety and security protocols.
The PCG earlier placed all its districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert from December 20, 2025 to January 4, 2026, in anticipation of increased holiday travel.
Passenger volume peaked on Christmas Eve, with the PCG recording 194,842 outbound passengers and 194,456 inbound passengers nationwide.
The PCG reminded the public to strictly follow maritime safety regulations to ensure safe holiday travel.
