PACQUIAO FOCUSES ON BUSINESS, REMAINS QUIET ON 2028 POLITICAL PLANS

Former Senator and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is keeping quiet about any political plans for the 2028 national elections, saying his attention is currently on his business ventures.

“Focused ako sa business,” Pacquiao told reporters during the signing of a partnership with digital entertainment platform DigiPlus Interactive Corporation in Taguig City on Wednesday.

He added, “Wala pa ‘kong plano,” before walking away.

Pacquiao owns MP Promotions, founded the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), and launched his own e-wallet, MannyPay, in 2025.

His political career began as Sarangani’s Lone District Representative from 2010 to 2016, followed by a Senate term from 2016 to 2022. He ran for president in 2022 but lost to Ferdinand Marcos Jr. In the 2025 midterm elections, he attempted a Senate comeback under Marcos’ Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas but placed 18th.

Outside politics, Pacquiao is set to return to the boxing ring against Floyd Mayweather Jr. on September 19, rekindling one of the sport’s most famous rivalries.
