The northeast monsoon (amihan) continues to affect parts of Northern Luzon, while easterlies are influencing weather conditions across the rest of the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, March 7.
PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin de la Cruz-Galicia said Batanes and the Babuyan Islands will experience cloudy skies with chances of rain due to the prevailing amihan.
Cagayan and Apayao may also see cloudy skies with light rainfall, while the Ilocos Region, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of the Cagayan Valley are forecast to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
For Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines, PAGASA projects partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or evening, as easterlies dominate.
The bureau is also monitoring a cluster of clouds east of Mindanao. While the system has not developed into a low-pressure area, PAGASA said it will continue to observe it for possible intensification.
Dela Cruz-Galicia added that a gale warning remains in effect over waters surrounding Batanes and the Babuyan Islands due to strong amihan-driven winds, making sea travel risky, particularly for small vessels.
