PAGASA: AMIHAN TO RETURN MIDWEEK

Warm and humid conditions will continue to affect most parts of the country in the coming days, but the northeast monsoon or amihan is expected to make a comeback by midweek, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Monday, March 2.

PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio explained that the entire archipelago is currently experiencing warm and humid weather due to easterlies. However, he clarified that the amihan has not fully ended, with another surge forecast by Wednesday, March 4, which may affect large parts of Luzon.

The amihan season typically runs from October to March, bringing cooler temperatures, stronger winds, and occasional rains, particularly over Luzon.

PAGASA records show the previous northeast monsoon season for 2024–2025 officially ended on March 26, 2025, while the onset of the current 2025–2026 season was declared on October 27, 2025.

As of Monday, Aurelio said there were no monitored low-pressure areas or tropical cyclones inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Still, he advised the public to remain vigilant for localized thunderstorms, which may bring sudden heavy rains, lightning, and gusty winds, especially in the afternoon or evening.
