Malacañang dismissed allegations that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. had direct knowledge of kickbacks in flood control projects, calling the claims baseless and politically motivated.
Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said such accusations were not new, especially from individuals seeking to remove the President from office.
She added that Marcos remains focused on economic issues, leaving investigations into flood control projects to the appropriate bodies and the courts.
The statement followed the official dismissal of impeachment complaints against Marcos by the House of Representatives on Tuesday, with an overwhelming 284-member majority vote in favor of rejection.
Castro said the President welcomed the outcome, viewing it as a reflection of lawmakers’ confidence in the truth.
