PALACE: GOV’T PURSUING FUGITIVES IN FLOOD CONTROL CORRUPTION CASES

Malacañang on Friday said the government is actively pursuing fugitives connected to anomalous flood control projects, including former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co.

Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro told reporters that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is coordinating with Interpol to track Co’s movements.

She noted that several cases related to the flood control controversy have been filed or recommended for prosecution. While some suspects remain at large, arrests have been made and recovered kickbacks returned to the national treasury.

Castro emphasized that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is leaving the handling of these cases to agencies like the Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman, while focusing on economic priorities.
