PALACE INSISTS FLOOD CONTROL PROBE STILL ACTIVE

Malacañang dismissed claims that the investigation into alleged irregularities in flood control projects is winding down, stressing that the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) remains fully engaged in its work.

Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said reports suggesting the probe would stop by February, following the resignation of commissioners Rogelio “Babes” Singson and Rossana Fajardo, are inaccurate.

“Huwag nilang isipin na hindi na matutuloy ang pag-iimbestiga, hindi magkakaroon ng pagpepreno. ‘Yung enthusiasm na mapanagot ang mga dapat na mapanagot ay nananatili pa rin,” Castro said.

She emphasized that the inquiry was ordered by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who remains committed to ensuring accountability. Parallel investigations are also being conducted by the Office of the Ombudsman and the Department of Justice.

Castro noted that Malacañang is awaiting congressional action on a proposed law to establish a permanent independent commission for infrastructure oversight, while reminding lawmakers to avoid duplicating the work of existing bodies.
