The Palace on Sunday said that removing President Bongbong Marcos from office would not benefit the country, emphasizing that the Chief Executive remains focused on addressing corruption and ensuring accountability.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the statement after several groups with “different agendas” joined the Trillion Peso March against corruption at the EDSA People Power Monument on Sunday, November 30, coinciding with the celebration of Andres Bonifacio’s birthday.
Castro said some groups that gathered at Luneta displayed tarpaulins calling for the President’s resignation, even though the EDSA rally’s central message was to protest corruption.
She emphasized that the Palace knows which groups are pushing for Marcos’ removal, but maintained that such efforts would fail because the President himself initiated the probe and the crackdown on those who ‘stole the people’s money.’
According to Castro, Marcos remains focused on his work while leaving the filing of cases to the Office of the Ombudsman, which will pursue charges before the Sandiganbayan.
She added that tight security continues around Malacañang, with strict monitoring in areas such as Mendiola and Ayala Bridge to deter attempts to approach the Palace compound.
