PALACE SAYS FRASCO STILL ENJOYS PRESIDENT’S CONFIDENCE

Malacañang on Tuesday affirmed that former Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco continues to enjoy the trust of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. following her reassignment as Presidential Adviser for Sustainable and Resilient Communities.

Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said the President remains confident in Frasco’s ability to carry out her new responsibilities.

“First of all, Secretary Frasco still has the trust given by the President. The President knows that she can perform the tasks given to her,” Castro told reporters.

Frasco was recently appointed to an advisory role focused on strengthening coordination and implementation of programs related to disaster resilience and sustainable development at the community level.

Castro explained that her mandate includes aligning national government initiatives and working closely with agencies, local government units (LGUs), and other stakeholders.

“Facilitate the integration and alignment of national government initiatives… aimed at promoting sustainable and resilient communities,” she said.

She added that Frasco will oversee coordination efforts, monitor program implementation, and identify gaps or bottlenecks in execution.

The Palace official noted that Marcos considers Frasco well-suited for the role, citing her experience in local governance.

Meanwhile, Malacañang said it has yet to name a replacement for Frasco at the Department of Tourism.

“As of now, we have not yet discussed about the replacement for the position. Let’s just wait, maybe in the next few weeks,” Castro said.

In the interim, Undersecretary Verna Buensuceso will serve as officer-in-charge of the agency.
