PALACE STRESSES SEPARATION OF POWERS AMID HOUSE PROBE ON DOLOMITE BEACH

Malacañang underscored the principle of separation of powers between the Executive branch and the House of Representatives (HOR) in light of the chamber’s upcoming investigation into the Manila Bay Dolomite Beach Resort on November 17.

In a press briefing on Tuesday, November 4, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Press Officer Claire Castro said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will not intervene in any manner regarding the planned probe.

She added that the investigation could serve as an opportunity to determine whether the project had any irregularities, contributed to flooding in Metro Manila, or affected the country’s environment.

Castro also denied claims that the probe is politically motivated or intended to divert attention from alleged irregularities in flood control projects.

The Palace maintained that the House has full authority to conduct the inquiry and that the President respects its independence.
