Malacañang on Tuesday said the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) should not be alarmed by Senator Imee Marcos’ accusations against her brother, President Bongbong Marcos, including claims of illegal drug use.
In a press briefing with the Malacañang Press Corps, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stressed that the senator’s allegations carry no weight.
“Hindi mabigat ang alegasyon ni Sen. Imee, walang basehan, kuwentong walang kuwenta, kuwentong kutsero. So bakit magkakaroon ng pag-aalala ang mga miyembro ng AFP?” she said.
Castro added that the issue does not merit serious concern, calling it mere noise: “Wala, ‘di dapat seryosohin ang mga alegasyon ni Sen. Imee. Isa lamang itong ingay.”
Her remarks follow AFP Chief-of-Staff General Romeo Brawner’s assurance that the military remains loyal to the Constitution despite the political noise surrounding the administration.
