PALACE TO REVIEW POSSIBLE EXTENSION OF INFRA COMMISSION PROBE

Malacañang said it will evaluate whether the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) should continue or conclude its investigation into anomalous flood control projects, following Ombudsman Boying Remulla’s remark that the commission may have only one to two months of work left.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro clarified that no discussion has yet taken place in the Palace on ending the commission’s mandate.

“Hindi pa namin napag-uusapan sa ngayon ang patungkol po diyan. Pag-aaralan po ito ng Pangulo,” Castro said.

She noted that the administration is closely observing the Ombudsman’s active efforts, with the public seeing the office’s momentum in filing cases against those accused of misusing public funds.

President Bongbong Marcos has repeatedly warned that those implicated in the flood control scam will not have a pleasant holiday season, saying they will “spend Christmas in jail.”
