Malacañang expressed no concern over Vice President Sara Duterte’s early announcement of her 2028 presidential candidacy.
Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the administration remains focused on governance rather than electoral politics, leaving it up to voters to evaluate their choices in the upcoming election.
“Wala pong nararamdaman ang Palasyo patungkol diyan, depende na sa mga tao kung paano nila susuriin ang kandidato,” Castro said.
She urged the public to select a leader who prioritizes national interest and the welfare of the people.
Castro also warned voters to be discerning, cautioning against the possibility of a “Manchurian candidate”—a candidate controlled by foreign forces or acting as a puppet.
