Former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez announced that Partido Reporma is formally supporting Vice President Sara Duterte as its candidate for President and Senate Deputy Minority Leader Rodante Marcoleta as its candidate for Vice President in the 2028 national elections.
“Partido Reporma formally expresses its support for Vice-President Inday Sara Duterte as a candidate for President of the Republic of the Philippines, and for Senator Rodante Marcoleta as candidate for Vice-President in the 2028 national elections,” Alvarez said in a statement.
Emphasizing the party’s reasoning, Alvarez added:
“Our support is grounded not in personality politics, but in principle.”
He noted that Duterte’s declaration addresses key issues affecting Filipinos, including rising prices of basic goods, crime, poor public services, and the need to strengthen infrastructure and disaster-response systems.
Alvarez also underscored the importance of government accountability, particularly in relation to controversies involving flood control and other public projects.
“Partido Reporma believes that the country must move beyond cycles of accusation, counter-accusation, and factional politics. Leadership must be anchored in governance, not maneuvering. Institutions must be strengthened, not weakened by division,” he said.
The party praised Duterte for her perceived ability to tackle difficult issues, as well as her discipline and determination to restore public trust in government.
“Let us move the country forward – together. God save the Philippines,” Alvarez concluded.
It was recalled that Duterte confirmed her plan to run for President in the 2028 elections on Wednesday, while Marcoleta has yet to announce any intention to run for Vice President.
