President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Nicolas Torre III as the new Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed Torre’s new assignment Friday.
Torre will replace Procopio Lipana as MMDA general manager. A member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) “Tagapaglunsad” Class of 1993, Torre served as PNP chief before he was abruptly relieved.
As MMDA general manager, Torre is expected to oversee Metro Manila’s traffic management, flood control operations, road safety initiatives, and disaster response coordination — critical areas that remain among the top concerns of the administration amid persistent congestion and recurring flooding in the capital region.
