President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved an additional ₱1.2 billion fund to support transport workers struggling with the impact of rising fuel prices.
In a video message, the President said the new round of assistance will be distributed nationwide beginning April 6.
“May ₱1.2 billion pa na ibibigay. Magsisimula na ang nationwide na pagbibigay sa April 6,” the President declared.
According to Marcos, more than 256,000 transport workers have already received ₱5,000 in cash aid since the program began in mid-March. The assistance is part of the government’s continuing response to the surge in oil prices driven by tensions in the Middle East.
Beneficiaries include tricycle drivers, jeepney drivers and operators, bus drivers and operators, among others. The President also assured that the government will continue to stand by the transport sector as fuel costs remain high.
