President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has signed a proclamation designating April 10–16 of every year as Economy, Planning, and Development Week, with April 10 specifically marked as Department of Economy, Planning and Development (DEPDev) Day.
The initiative, signed on March 31, highlights the importance of economic planning and development in line with the goals of the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028.
Under the order, DEPDev will lead the week-long observance, identifying programs, projects, and activities to mark the annual celebration. Government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, state universities and colleges, and the private sector are encouraged to participate and support the commemoration.
The proclamation underscores the administration’s push to institutionalize awareness and collaboration around economic planning as a cornerstone of national progress.
