President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. assured that the passport of former Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co will be immediately cancelled once criminal charges related to anomalous flood control projects are formally filed.
Asked during a press briefing at the Presidential Broadcast Studio, Kalayaan Hall, Malacañang, whether Co’s passport would be revoked immediately or if he would be forced to return to the Philippines to face charges, Marcos said,
“I think that is best directed at lawyers because that is a legal answer. The legal answer is because hindi pa nasampahan ng kaso, therefore the request for cancellation of passport cannot yet be made.”
“However, when the time comes, we will immediately cancel his passport,” he added.
The President also said government lawyers are finalizing the cases, and he expects those responsible to face imprisonment once the process is complete.
