President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. visited Negros Occidental on Saturday to assess the destruction caused by Typhoon Tino, meeting affected residents, teachers, and evacuees across several towns.
Marcos first inspected the Jose Pepito Montilla Garcia Sr. National High School in Moises Padilla, where flooding disrupted classes and affected 1,257 learners. School officials grew emotional as they described the storm’s impact on their campus.

He then surveyed damaged homes in Barangay Poblacion and proceeded to the La Castellana Elementary School evacuation center, which currently shelters 1,117 individuals from 307 families.

The President also inspected the collapsed Bungahin Steel Bridge in Barangay Robles, which snapped during the typhoon and cut off access to upland areas.
In La Castellana, Marcos led a situation briefing with Cabinet officials from DOE, DepEd, DOH, DA, DHSUD, and DSWD, along with local government leaders.

To support recovery efforts, he committed ₱95 million in assistance for affected towns and the provincial government.
