President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday called on the 326 graduates of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) “Silang Paglaom” Class of 2026 to strengthen public trust by upholding transparency, integrity, and stronger community engagement.
Speaking at the academy’s 47th commencement exercises in Camp Castañeda, Marcos underscored the need to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the public through visibility and accountability.

“We can improve public trust through enhanced police visibility and transparency in these investigations,” he said.
The President reminded the graduates to maintain discipline and integrity in their service, cautioning against misconduct within the ranks.
“Help cleanse your ranks so that wrongdoings of a few will not destroy the reputation that you have worked so hard to achieve,” he stressed.
Describing the new officers as “guardians of peace,” Marcos challenged them to help transform the Philippine National Police (PNP) into an institution deeply trusted by citizens.

He urged them to act as fair and impartial problem solvers, setting aside personal interests in the line of duty.
“Let the courage and discipline that has been instilled in you by the PNPA guide your every decision throughout your service,” he added.
Marcos also emphasized a strict “zero tolerance” policy against corruption and human rights abuses, directing the PNP and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to ensure prompt and objective investigations of erring personnel.
Highlighting the broader global context, the President reminded the graduates of their responsibility to safeguard public safety and confidence.
“Be the reason why our citizens will feel safe wherever they might be. Public trust in law enforcement and enhanced citizen engagement will increase as long as you demonstrate integrity and professionalism in your work,” he said.
He concluded by stressing the honor and responsibility that comes with wearing the police uniform.
“There is no greater reward than knowing you wear a uniform that your fellow Filipinos respect and admire.”
