The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has activated its Deployable Response Groups (DRGs) in anticipation of the possible effects of Typhoon Tino this Sunday, November 3.
Following the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the PCG is carrying out proactive measures to ensure the safety of coastal communities and maritime stakeholders that may be affected by severe weather conditions.
These preparations include readiness for forced evacuations, rescue operations, and distribution of relief supplies to areas expected to experience strong winds and heavy rainfall.
According to PCG Spokesperson Captain Noemie Cayabyab, all DRG personnel are now on heightened alert, fully equipped with rescue tools, land vehicles, and floating assets ready for immediate deployment.
She added that PCG Districts in Southern Tagalog, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Southwestern Mindanao are in close coordination with local government units (LGUs) and other concerned agencies to streamline emergency response efforts.
“By mobilizing resources early, the PCG aims to minimize potential damage and safeguard the lives of our fellow Filipinos. We also intend to deliver timely humanitarian assistance to the affected communities for their immediate recovery,” said Cayabyab.
Cayabyab also reminded those at sea to remain cautious and heed advisories.
“We strongly encourage our maritime stakeholders, especially our local fishermen, to monitor weather advisories from PAGASA and follow sailing guidelines for their safety,” she emphasized.
The PCG assured the public that all response units across the country are on standby for deployment to provide lifesaving assistance and support as Typhoon Tino approaches.
