PCG VOWS NEUTRALITY, BACKS PEACEFUL PROTEST RIGHTS AMID ANTI-CORRUPTION RALLIES

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Sunday reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the Constitution and remain politically neutral as nationwide anti-corruption demonstrations continue.

In its statement, the PCG said it recognizes and supports the public’s constitutional right to peaceful assembly and expression.

“These rights are the cornerstones of a just and democratic society, enabling individuals to engage in public discourse, voice their concerns, and participate meaningfully in the decisions that affect their lives in a peaceful, just, inclusive and prosperous Filipino society: Ang Bagong Pilipinas,” the PCG said.

The agency will deploy personnel to maintain public safety, secure protest sites, and provide immediate assistance when necessary.

The Coast Guard has also been on full alert since Saturday in anticipation of rallies at Luneta Park and Quirino Grandstand, which began on November 16 and will run until November 18.
