PH PESO HITS NEW RECORD LOW, PSE INDEX SEES SLIGHT RECOVERY

The Philippine peso fell to a new record low of ₱59.170 against the US dollar, according to a report by the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) on Wednesday, November 12.

This marks a decline from the previous day, Tuesday, November 11, when the peso stood at ₱58.985.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) showed a modest increase, rising to 5,714.02 or 1.51% on the same day, following a record slump over the past five years.

The All Shares index also saw a slight uptick, reaching 3,498.87 or 0.96%.

The peso’s recent low comes after it previously hit a record of ₱59.130 against the dollar on October 28.
