The Philippines on Friday formally launched the ASEAN Philippines 2026 logo, revealing a visual identity that blends Filipino cultural symbols with the region’s collective aspirations as the country prepares to assume the ASEAN chairmanship next year.
Unveiled by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at the historic Foro de Intramuros, the event also offered a first look at the Philippines’ thematic direction under the banner “Navigating our Future, Together.”
The logo features five symbolic design elements:
- Rice stalk, representing nourishment, food security, and all 11 ASEAN Member States, including Timor-Leste.
- Weave pattern, honoring indigenous textiles and reflecting unity in diversity.
- Wave, signifying maritime cooperation and shared regional waters.
- Balangay, symbolizing ASEAN’s collective journey and community identity.
- Text elements, inspired by wave forms to highlight regional interconnectedness.
The launch doubled as Marcos’ initial policy preview for the 2026 Chairship. The President identified three core priorities: peace and security anchors, prosperity corridors, and people empowerment.
“These will direct ASEAN’s efforts to strengthen dialogue and cooperation on regional security, deepen economic integration, and uplift the lives and resilience of our peoples,” Marcos said.
A major highlight of the Philippines’ agenda is championing responsible and ethical artificial intelligence, marking the first ASEAN Chairship to place AI governance at the forefront.
Delegates will be hosted across multiple Philippine cities including Manila, Cebu, Bohol, Boracay, Laoag, Iloilo, Tagaytay, and Clark — locations chosen to reflect cultural diversity and readiness for a tech-forward regional vision.
“Together, these venues tell the story of a nation that mirrors ASEAN itself — diverse yet united, traditional yet forward-looking,” the President added.
