PHILIPPINES TO HOST TWO INTERNATIONAL TOURISM FORUMS IN 2026

The Philippines is set to host two major international tourism events next year, the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced on Thursday, December 25. These include the 2026 United Nations (UN) Tourism Global Forum on Gastronomy and the ASEAN Tourism Forum in Cebu.

“Looking ahead, the Philippines prepares to host the UN Tourism Global Forum on Gastronomy and the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2026 in Cebu, affirming our leadership and resilience in shaping the future of tourism in the region,” Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco said in her Christmas Day message.

She highlighted the sector’s role in driving inclusive growth under President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

“Under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., tourism remains a vital engine for inclusive growth, creating jobs, empowering communities, and ensuring that progress reaches every region, especially those most in need,” she added.

Frasco also reflected on the country’s challenges and achievements this year, including the introduction of the Michelin Guide in the Philippines.

“This year tested our nation. Natural calamities struck our communities, disrupted livelihoods, and reminded us how fragile progress can be,” she said.

“In these most difficult moments, tourism stood as a source of hope, restoring work, sustaining families, and helping communities rise with courage and resolve,” Frasco added.

She emphasized that hosting the 10th UN Tourism World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism, which will bring together leaders, chefs, and advocates from over 150 countries, will strengthen the Philippines’ position as a rising hub for gastronomy.

“On behalf of the Department of Tourism, I extend my governments, stakeholders, and fellow public servants who stood firm through a challenging year and served our people with dedication and heart,” Frasco concluded.
