The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced it will sustain its nationwide monitoring operations this Easter Sunday, April 5, following what it described as a “generally peaceful” observance of Sabado de Gloria.
In its report released Sunday morning, the PNP recorded 59 drowning incidents, 91 fire cases, and 455 vehicular accidents across the country from March 29 to April 5 at 8:00 a.m.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. reminded the public to remain vigilant as more Filipinos are expected to flock to beaches and resorts during the holiday.
He also cautioned motorists to drive responsibly.
The PNP clarified that its heightened monitoring is in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure peace and safety during national observances and public celebrations.
