The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced full preparations to secure the annual Traslacion on January 9, 2026, one of the country’s largest religious gatherings.
“Mahigit kumulang 15,000 PNP personnel ang gagamitin natin dito…,” Manila Police District spokesperson PMaj. Philip Ines said in a radio interview.
Ines noted that additional personnel from other government agencies will also be deployed to maintain order as thousands of devotees are expected to flock to Manila for the feast of Jesus Nazarene in Quiapo.
He said alternate routes will be opened as some roads will be closed for the procession, while rules on prohibited items have already been issued for participants.
Ines added that authorities have not monitored any serious threats for the upcoming event.
