PNP DEPLOYS 70,000 COPS FOR SIMBANG GABI

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy more than 70,000 police officers nationwide to ensure public safety during the nine-day Misa de Aguinaldo, popularly known as Simbang Gabi.

In a statement on Sunday, PNP Acting Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said police visibility will be heightened through intensified foot patrols, checkpoints, and mobile units in and around major churches.

The PNP will also coordinate closely with local government units, barangay officials, and church authorities to manage crowds, ensure traffic flow, and prepare for possible emergencies.

Among the key concerns being monitored are theft, pickpocketing, traffic congestion, and fire hazards in areas expected to draw large crowds.

“We are also vigilant against potential fire hazards and other emergencies. Kaya naman, our personnel will be visibly deployed and patrolling the vicinities of churches and surrounding streets,” Nartatez said.

“We are ready and we are committed to contributing to the meaningful Christmas to everybody through improved peace and order measures,” he added.

Nartatez urged churchgoers to stay alert, report suspicious activities to authorities, and observe traffic rules.

Simbang Gabi runs from December 16 to December 24 and culminates with the Misa de Gallo on Christmas Eve.
