PNP LAUNCHES “OPLAN LIGTAS SUMVAC 2026” FOR HOLY WEEK, SUMMER TRAVELERS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched “Oplan Ligtas SumVac 2026” to ensure public safety during Holy Week and the summer travel season, covering March 29 to May 31.

The operation will secure major holidays and events, including Philippine Veterans Week, Araw ng Kagitingan, Holy Week, Labor Day, and Flores de Mayo, when large crowds are expected in provinces, tourist destinations, and places of worship.

PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. assured the public of a heightened police presence nationwide.

“Nais naming tiyakin sa publiko na nakaalerto ang inyong kapulisan upang mapanatiling ligtas at maayos ang kanilang paglalakbay,” Nartatez said.

Police units will be strategically deployed along highways, transport hubs, tourist spots, and other key areas. The Highway Patrol Group will station road safety marshals and inspect bus terminals, while regional offices will boost mobile patrols and maintain visibility in public spaces.

Motorist Assistance Centers will be set up along major highways, and Police Assistance Desks will be established in churches, airports, seaports, and bus terminals.

Meanwhile, the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group will intensify online monitoring to prevent scams, particularly fraudulent travel and accommodation offers targeting vacationers.

Nartatez also reminded travelers to stay vigilant, secure their belongings, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police officer or station.
