As millions of Filipinos prepare for travel, gatherings, and holiday celebrations, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has announced that its entire force is now placed on heightened alert.
PNP Acting Chief PLt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said that instead of resting or taking vacations, the police have rolled out intensified security operations to ensure a safe and peaceful Christmas for the public.
He also assured the public of strong police visibility nationwide, with efforts focused on achieving zero—or at least reduced—criminal incidents throughout the holiday season.
With the heightened alert status, police personnel are expected to spend Christmas while on duty.
Nartatez also appealed to the public to do their part in keeping communities safe, safeguard their belongings when in malls, plan their trips ahead, and avoid last-minute rushes.
