The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced Sunday it resolved 4,203 administrative cases involving 6,527 personnel in 2025, with more than half resulting in disciplinary action against 3,403 officers and staff.
According to records from the Discipline, Law and Order Division, 2,834 cases led to penalties while 1,369 cases involving 3,124 personnel were dismissed or resulted in exoneration.
Sanctions included 1,153 dismissals, 1,073 suspensions, 133 demotions, 351 reprimands, and other penalties such as forfeiture of salary, restriction, and withholding of privileges.
PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. emphasized accountability and due process.
“These figures show that accountability in the PNP is not selective and not superficial. May malinaw tayong proseso – iniimbestigahan ang bawat reklamo, at pinapakinggan ang lahat ng panig,” he said. “We decide based on facts and due process – whether that leads to penalties or to exoneration.”
From August 26 to December 31, 2025 under Nartatez’s leadership, the PNP resolved 425 cases involving 710 personnel, with 331 cases resulting in penalties and 94 in exoneration. During this period, 191 dismissals and 94 suspensions were imposed, alongside demotions and reprimands.
Nartatez underscored discipline as central to police service.
“Those who betray public trust will be held accountable, while ang mga napatunayang inosente ay nililinis ang pangalan. That balance is essential to a professional police force,” he added.
