The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy more than 11,000 personnel to secure the upcoming “Trillion Peso March” protest on February 25, which coincides with the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.
The protest is expected to draw tens of thousands of participants who will denounce alleged government corruption, particularly irregularities linked to flood control projects.
PNP spokesperson PBGen Randulf Tuaño said the police force is prepared to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the planned activities.
“Ito ay kaugnay sa gaganapin na Trillion Peso March. Nais po nating banggitin na handa po ang PNP upang tiyakin ang mapayapa at maayos na pagdaraos ng anumang aktibidad sa February 25.”
He added that personnel deployment plans are already in place in anticipation of large crowds and related gatherings.
“Nagkasa po ang PNP ng mahigit na 11,000 kung saan sila po ay ide-deploy.”
A February 10 memorandum from the Quezon City government identified at least five organizations expected to participate in a two-day prayer and indignation rally scheduled on February 22 and 25 at the EDSA Shrine and the People Power Monument.
Authorities said coordination with local government units and rally organizers is ongoing to ensure public safety and minimal disruption during the events.
