
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has officially approved the ₱6.793-trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP) for Fiscal Year 2026, marking a nearly ₱400 billion increase from the 2025 budget.
The announcement was made by Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro during a press briefing held in Malacañang on Monday, July 15.
“Intending to improve the quality of education in the Philippines and ease the lives of Filipinos, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. approved the ₱6.793 trillion proposed budget for next year,” Castro said.
She emphasized that during the Cabinet meeting where the approval was made, President Marcos stressed that the 2026 budget aims not only to support economic growth but also to uplift the lives of all Filipinos and secure the future for the next generation.
“Sa ilalim ng Marcos administration, mahalaga ang kapakanan ng bawat isa at ang kinabukasan ng taumbayan tungo sa mas progresibo at maunlad na Bagong Pilipinas,” she added.
The 2026 proposed national budget surpasses the current ₱6.4-trillion allocation for 2025, reflecting the administration’s expanded efforts to improve key sectors, particularly education, infrastructure, and public services.
