PRESIDENT MARCOS URGES NEWLY ELECTED LGU OFFICIALS TO FOCUS ON PUBLIC SERVICE

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. extended his congratulations and message of encouragement to newly elected local officials through his weekly vlog posted on Sunday, July 6.

Addressing both first-time, returning, and re-elected officials, Marcos said, “Ako’y makiki-congratulate ulit sa inyo, at magpaparating ng goodluck para sa inyong lahat.”

He emphasized that now is the time to shift from politics to public service.

“Tapos na po ang bahagi ng politika. Serbisyo publika na ang haharapin n’yo ngayon. Marami-rami tayong trabahong pagtutulungan ngayon, sa lokal at national government. At malaking bahagi ang LGU sa paghahatid namin ng serbisyo sa taumbayan,” he said.

Marcos also reiterated the fulfillment of one of his key 2022 campaign promises—delivering rice at ₱20 per kilo.

He claimed that the initiative is now being implemented and will continue nationwide.

“₱20 rice is here to stay. It is achievable, it is sustainable. Kaya abangan ninyo, in your nearest public market,” the President declared.

The statement comes amid continued public scrutiny over the feasibility and long-term sustainability of the said rice subsidy program.
